Solo Works
A Unique Experiment- Solo for 4 Timpani (2016-2017)
This groove-based solo is designed to explore the various sounds and playing areas of the timpani. Some of these varying timbre locations include playing on the rims of the drums, in the center of the head, and even on the bowl. This solo also experiments with dead strokes, buzz roles, and playing with the tip and butt ends of the mallets. Abundant sounds aside, the solo’s main theme plays a prominent role throughout the work, even during the least expected moments.
Love is Patient, Love is Kind (For Baritone/Tenor Voice and Piano)(2018-2019)
This vocal work uses a three-octave range (from a low Eb 2 to a high Eb 5). While the piece was initially intended to be a solo for single voice, this piece can also be sung as a duet to fill in for optional voicings in the score.
Vibraphone Suite (2016-2017)
This solo is comprised of three relatively short etudes, each movement designed to test the soloist’s technique and endurance. The goal of this piece is to teach the performer to work on the practical demands of mallet dampening and challenging hand extensions.
